Welcome to The Abbey Inn

A nineteenth century, historic inn transformed into a cosy, relaxed country pub with rooms, overlooking the historic ruins of Byland Abbey in North Yorkshire. Serving a seasonal menu created by Head Chef Charlie Smith, and Chef Director Tommy Banks, alongside an excellently curated drinks list from real hand-pumped ales to seasonal cocktails.

NEW Summer Opening Hours

We're excited to announce that as of Wednesday 31st July our summer opening hours will be in place.

We'll be open for dinner on Wednesdays along with lunch on Thursdays, meaning more opportunities to try our delicious garden menu, our ever changing specials and our moreish bar snacks!

Monday: 12pm - 2pm & 5.30pm - 8.30pm

Tuesday:  Closed

Wednesday: 5.30pm - 8.30pm

We are directly located opposite Byland Abbey. From Thirsk take the A19 towards York, after 2 miles take the Thirkleby/Coxwold/Helmsley turn off and follow directions for Byland Abbey.
